The company name is a Thai word for happiness and balance. One of their company mottos is “Smile! Pass it on.” And the goal of their business is to make your feet feel like they’re spending a day at the beach.
Sanuk was started in 1997 by a dude named Jeff Kelley, who thought he’d try making sandals out of inner tubes and indoor-outdoor carpet. While that prototype doesn’t sound particularly comfortable, he eventually developed a smooth, stylish, durable flip-flop and started attracting the most chill group of partners and consultants imaginable to promote and advance his product line.
The cool surfer attitude of the company founders is evident in every model in the Sanuk line. Per the company philosophy page, they strive to make products that are as much about funk as they are about function. That eclectic style is clearly apparent in the above model called the Donny. It’s name comes from the great surfer and laid back life traveler Donavon Frankenreiter.

“See ya later alligator! The Goodbye Shirt is a celebration and fond farewell to the awesome past decade of Threadless.
When you wear it you’ll always know just what to say when parting, and hopefully laugh too. Peace out, river trout!”
Available now at select Nixon retailers in the Hawaiian Islands, The Nixon x Hawaii Lodown features the state colors of red, white and blue, a custom-engraved caseback of the Hawaiian flag, an engraved closure buckle with the word “Hawaii” prominently showcased, and lastly, it all comes wrapped up in custom packaging in the likeness of the Hawaiian flag and the Defend Oahu Coalition motto, “Keep the Country COUNTRY!”.
The development of this watch was inspired by Nixon Global Team member Mark Cunningham, a North Shore local, lifeguard, and a Defend Oahu Coalition activist. Sales from this watch will help support the Defend Oahu Coalition, an organization aimed at protecting the communities of Oahu from the effects of large scale development.
The Nixon x Hawaii Lodown is a digital tide watch featuring pre-programmed tide charts for over 200 beaches for the next 15 years, dual time, countdown timer, wave counter, light and will retail for $100. Once these watches are sold out, they are gone.

Designer David Chavez is venturing to solve the problem through this sleek Haptica Braille watch that rotates throughout the day to reflect the time. It can be read discreetly by swiping your finger across the face without annoying watch announcements, and it won’t shake your wrist. Plus, I think the design is sleek and looks comfortable.
Chavez has partnered with Kickstart to seek funding for the project, hoping to make his more practical design available to those who need it. The website has helped in bringing financial backing to gadgets like the TikTok iPod Nano Watch-Kit and the iPhone 4 Glif tripod. You can watch his video below and read more about the project here.
As soon as Apple’s 6th generation iPod Nano was announced earlier this year, speculation about using it as a watch began. That happened so fast the announcement event wasn’t even finished before people were buzzing about it. Since then we’ve seen a steady stream of watch strap accessories to match that expectation. The latest is the HEX Watch Band.
The HEX Watch Band features a “Pop-In, Pop-Out” design and integrated control buttons to provide protection to the Nano inside as well as full access to all of the iPod controls. The inline design of the strap is supposed to allow headphone cords to run comfortably straight up the arm or through a sleeve.
The HEX Watch Band comes in 9 colors, pictured above; red, pink, orange, green, blue, clear, black, grey and white. It is available now and will run you $29.95 USD.
The Nooka Zen-V, like many Nooka faces, reads time through the use of bars. The left and center bars collectively displays the hours, while the right most bar displays the minutes. The seconds are read on the small window display, along with the day of the week right underneath. The Zen-V also features a chronograph and an alarm mode.
